The many rumours that are in circulation regarding our industry include one that attempts to link us to meteorology and says that ideas, especially “creative” ones, and most especially “the best ideas”, always come from above.
Inspired by these words of wisdom, we dedicated our lunch breaks, home time, days off and weekends – to say nothing of our annual holiday – to the study of country lore. Where do the creative juices flow better – in a swing seat or on a sun lounger? Carpe inspirationem better in a soft top or on the sofa?
But even the most in-depth research failed to explain how to identify “idea clouds”. And the allegedly more productive “clear skies” proved to be even more unfathomable. Nor were we able to find out more about the reverse, i.e. how to use thermals to rise up to mental flights (of fancy). So we decided to go back to doing our jobs the old-fashioned way. And put our thinking caps on.
